Melbourne Dungeon Con 2026

A free, community-driven TTRPG convention with an emphasis on the small, old-school, weird, wacky and new. A day-long event where you can play or run games, meet new people and share the stuff you've made.
Sunday 27th September
About Dungeon Con
Born from an OSE open table which quickly grew in size, my group of friends and I want to get all the people who share our love for this hobby in one space, and get them making shit!
Dungeon Con is a day of playing games, meeting friends and swapping zines. Low commitment: sign up to games beforehand, or simply rock up on the day.
- Who can attend? Anyone! Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- All attendees must abide by our Code of Conduct and Sabby’s Safe Space Policy. Dungeon Con is a safe, welcoming space.
What’s on
Doors open at 10.30am and close at 7pm. Entry between these times.
- RPG sessions and games from 11am onward. Anyone can sign up to run or play.
- Zine swap at 2pm. Everyone is encouraged to make and bring a zine (see below)
- Official After Party at a pub nearby; stay tuned for more details!
Running a Game
Want to run a game? We’re recruiting game masters to schedule games for attendees to join. Anyone can submit a game to run – no matter how big or small. We welcome any system, but are placing an emphasis on smaller, quirkier, indie or old-school games, rather than the more popular ones like D&D 5E or Pathfinder.
- Make a submission(s) on our Aftergame page below
- Sessions are available from 11am to 7pm, of any length
- The best time to schedule your game is either 11am or 3pm, but you can choose any time or length
- Submissions will be approved so as to maximise use of the tables available
- If your game runs over 2pm, you may wish to take a break so you can participate in the zine swap!
- Read the Code of Conduct – all attendees must abide by it
- Prepare the materials you’ll need to bring
Playing a Game
To play in a scheduled session, sign up for a game on our Aftergame page. A few sessions will be available from when tickets go live, but more games will be added over time – so if you don’t see anything you like or all the games are full, check back later!
- No need to play a game to attend – come just for the zine swap, or to hang out with friends!
- There will be games with seats held open for walk-ins, and tables set aside for last minute pick-up-games. But if you see something you like, sign up early to avoid missing out!
- If signed up for a game, arrive on time or early so the game can start promptly.
- Most games will start at 11am or 3pm; so arrive around those times if you want to walk-in on the day!
What to Bring
- Water and snacks!
- Pens and pencils
- Dice for whatever game you’re playing; and spare sets in case your mate forgets theirs!
- Miniatures for your special little guy(s)
- Character sheets or handouts you or your players will need
- Rules for whatever game(s) you want to play
- Your zine! It can be hand-made, printed, typed, digital, etc. Bring multiple copies!
Vendors, Sponsors and Selling Zines
If you have a few home-made products or zines that you wish to sell, just bring them along. We will have a space put aside for attendees to stack any zines they want to sell. Just remember: your first zine has to be free.
If you are interested in being a vendor or sponsor, fill out this form.
Making Zines
A key event of the convention will be the zine swap! We want everyone to make their own zine from scratch. It doesn’t matter how small or large, what ruleset, concept or idea. It could be a new player class or setting, or even a collection of sketches or funny phrases! We just want you to make something that shows off your love for the hobby – the more home-made and DIY the better.
We have linked some resources on this site to help you get started. There are also a few places in Melbourne that host zine-making resources – the Sticky Institute is chock full of stationary, and our own venue Sabby does regular Zine Club events!
Once you’ve made your zine, check out the rules for the zine swap, then print off or photocopy ten or more copies and bring them along!
